The bridge design process began with a hand-drawn sketch, which was first translated into SAP2000 to identify members under the greatest tension and compression. The refined design was then modeled in SolidWorks, incorporating an undertruss and exterior perimeter truss to enhance structural strength and stability.

Force vs. Displacement Graph

The completed SolidWorks model was analyzed using FEA, focusing on von Mises stress and displacement. The final trusses, canopies, deck and crossmembers were then laser cut and assembled with wood glue. The finished bridge was tested on an Instron machine, failing at 23.26 kN of force with a maximum displacement of 5.67 mm.
